My name is Kathy Pearce. I was born and raised in Arizona and I am proud to say that I am a 5th generation Arizonan. My ancestors originally settled in Northeastern Arizona. My Great Grandfather James Pearce was one of the first Arizona Rangers. Come from a long line of military service and law enforcement dating back to the Revolutionary Was. I am the proud mother of 5 wonderful children, 22 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Professionally I have worked as an Advocate for the Wounded Warrior Resource Center with the Dept of Defense and am now Founder/CEO of AZ Heroes to Hometowns Foundation. In this capacity, I get to serve as a liaison between our wounded military heroes and the communities that support them. This has given me the privilege of working with community leaders both civically and leaders of enterprise. This line of work is dear to my heart as I have learned first hand of the importance and need for this program because my son SSG (Ret) Army Sniper Brent Bretz who was severely injured in Iraq in December 2004. Our entire family lives have changed. I have nothing but pride for our Military, Country, and Communities and this line of work allows me to serve all them.
After 5 years with the Dept. of Defense, AZ Heroes to Hometowns (501c3) was formed to help our returning Wounded Heroes here in Arizona. AZH2H mission is to help Wounded Heroes and their families financially, physically, socially and spiritually to find their new normal. Our vision is to ensure our Wounded Heroes achieve success in their continuous transition back to their hometowns.
As Founder/CEO of AZ Heroes to Hometowns we have held monthly dinners for over 12 years to let our Wounded Heroes meet others that have been where they have been, to form new battle buddies as they face challenges when they return to their hometowns.
Some of our other programs include Peer Mentoring program, Financial Readiness, Benefits and Alternative Medicine. AZH2H has worked with Home Depot with over 30 Wounded Heroes to help modify their home and yards to fit their needs.
AZH2H helps military kids as they start school with back packs and school supplies. In 2020 we helped over 400 kids head back to school with their needed supplies. AZH2H program Turkeys to Troops feed over 1,500 families in 2020. This was our 13 year and look forward to many more. AZH2H provides a grocery gift card to help with the purchase of a turkey. AZH2H works with local foodbanks to provide perishables and non-perishables so those that have sacrificed so much do not have to worry where their Thanksgiving meal is coming from.
AZH2H in 2020 started a Wilderness Healing program based on Anasazi ways with therapeutic and spiritual healing environment for veterans, specifically veterans dealing with anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation and symptoms of PTS. AZH2H has seen success with this program and will continue to serve those that need the program.
